Castle Bikes is a registered and authorised Shimano Service Centre. This means that we use high quality Shimano parts, and that our staff are trained and qualified to carry out work on your bike.

 

You can pop your bike in at any time for a service or repair and we will do our best to get you riding again as soon as possible.

 

There is no need to book your bike in, although we do ask that you collect your bike promptly once we have completed the work. If you leave your bike with us for more than 5 days after we have completed the work we will charge £5 per day storage fee.

 

Castle Bikes Servicing and Repair Costs.


 

Note: We would be grateful if your bikes are clean prior to servicing.


Prices do not include parts unless stated, but we are happy to advise you before we start what they will cost. This allows you to select your own parts based on your requirements and budget.


Safety Check. £FREE

Bring your bike in and we will give it a free safety check. From this we can advise if any work needs to be carried out and how much this will cost.


Basic Service. £20 – Or FREE after 6-8 weeks of use on any bike bought at Castle Bikes.


Regular servicing and checks will ensure that your bike remains safe to ride and will minimise subsequent repair costs. This will highlight any repairs that need to be made, any repairs will be at extra cost.

Every bike should have a basic service every 3-6 months, depending on use. Many people will do this themselves.

Make sure your bike is safe and ready to go when you feel like going for a ride.

Includes the following;


  • Check, adjust and lubricate brakes and cables.

  • Check, adjust and lubricate gears and cables.

  • Check, adjust and lubricate chain.

  • Check wheels and hubs for wear.

  • Check cranks and pedals for wear.

  • Check and adjust headset.
  • Check tyres, inflate to correct pressure.
  • Ensure all other items are tightened correctly.

Note: Drivetrains which are dirty will incur a £15 de-grease fee. The Basic Service Does not include a bike wash, please ensure your bike is clean before dropping it off.

Brake Service. £40 All parts included. (For cable operated rim brakes. Add £6 for cable operated disks.)

 

We will replace all cables with genuine Shimano inner and outer cables and high quality alloy ferrules. We will replace all pads and set the brakes correctly.


Add £15 to upgrade to Gore sealed cables. These are maintenance free and will give flawless braking for 1-2 years with no maintenance.


Gear Service. £30 All parts included.


We will replace all cables with genuine Shimano inner and outer cables and high quality alloy ferrules. All gears will be correctly set up and tuned. Free retune after 1 month. (This is to allow for cable stretch which is unavoidable)


Add £15 to upgrade to Gore sealed cables. These are maintenance free and will give flawless shifting for 1-2 years with no maintenance.


Wheel Service. £15 per wheel.


We will strip, de-grease and rebuild your hub with new bearings.



Intermediate Service. £60


Full service excluding all parts



Full Service. £120 (Including new cables, brake pads, wheel bearings, basic headset bearings and chain)


This is a fully inclusive and comprehensive service, every bike should have a full service every 2-3 years to ensure it is fully safe and efficient to ride.


A combination of our Brake Service, Gear Service, Wheel Service with a general check. In addition we will also;


  • Check Frame and fork alignment.

  • Strip, regrease and replace bearings in your headset. (Basic bearings included.)

  • Check and adjust bottom bracket.

  • Check pedals and crank arms for correct operation and tightness.

  • Replace chain, lubricate and adjust. (Price includes SRAM PC951 or equivalent chain)

  • Check chain rings and freewheel/cassette for wear, replace if required, parts at extra cost.

  • Check front and rear dérailleurs for correct operation and wear, clean and lubricate. Ensure fixing bolts are correctly tightened.

  • Check spoke tension, true minor buckles. (If badly buckled see wheel repairs)

  • Check tyres for damage, inflate to correct pressure.

  • Inspect Forks and Rear Suspension, advise and set to riders spec where possible.

Tyres and Wheels

  • Puncture Repair, including basic tube. £8

  • Fit new tyre £5

  • Front hub service (Strip, clean, re grease, bearings included) £15

  • Rear hub service (Strip, clean, re grease, bearings included) £15

  • Wheel true – minor buckle £10

  • Wheel true, major buckle/replace broken or missing spokes £15

  • Wheel build £20


Drive train

  • Gear adjustment with existing cable (Front and Rear) £10 

  • Gear Cable Replacement £10 ea

  • Front dérailleur or shifter fit and adjust, Seat tube mount £10

  • Front dérailleur fit and adjust, BB mount £15

  • Rear dérailleur or shifter fit and adjust £15

  • Crank set replacement £10

  • Bottom bracket replacement £15

  • Drivetrain replacement – Fit new chain, cassette, and chainrings £30

  • Drivetrain Degrease and Clean £10

 

Brakes

  • Brake adjustment (with existing cables) £5

  • Brake Cable Replacement £10 ea

  • Brake block replacement £10

  • Hydraulic Brake pad replacement £5

  • Hydraulic Brake Bleed – Per Brake £15

General Jobs

  • Pedal replacement £5

  • Fit new grips £5

  • Bar tape replacement £10

  • Boxed bike build £30 (all complete bikes purchased in our shop are professionally assembled for free)

     

Specialist repairs

  • Bottom bracket thread and face (frame only) £15

    (Price based on you providing us with a stripped frame, add £15 if you require us to remove and re-fit your cranks and bottom bracket)

  • Headset ream and face (frame only) £15

    (Price based on you providing us with a stripped frame, add £15 if you require us to remove and re-fit your headset and forks)

  • Fork swap. (Remove old forks, swap crown race onto new forks, cut steerer and install into existing headset) £20

  • Shock Bushing replacement, includes bushings £40

  • Full Suspension bearing/bushing strip and replace POA - Depends on frame type.

  • Fork servicing – we do not carry out Fork servicing on our premises, we can arrange for your forks to be serviced by Rock Shox, Fox(Mojo) or TF Tuned. We charge £15 to take the forks off your bike, send them off and refit them when they are returned. Please ask about the additional cost of the service for your individual forks.

  • Shock servicing – we do not carry out Shock servicing on our premises, we can arrange for your forks to be serviced by Rock Shox, Fox or TF Tuned. We charge £15 to take the shock off your bike, send it off and refit it when it is returned. Please ask about the additional cost of the service for your individual shock.

     

  • All other jobs charged at our professional hourly rate of £30


A comprehensive range of repairs can be carried out in our authorised Shimano Service Centre, for anything else you may need, just ask.
